NPR found a fun way to celebrate Father's Day this year, devoting a radio segment to a time-honored tradition that makes us all cringe: The dad joke.
We've all heard them, whether from our own dads or from the proud fathers gathered at the preschool graduation. Even former President Barack Obama is a big fan, making his daughters Sasha and Malia -- and the rest of us, too -- wince at more than a few of his jokes over the years.
This classic perfectly illustrates just how bad dad jokes can be: Kid: Dad, I'm hungry!

Dad: Nice to meet you, Hungry! I'm Dad.
Ugghhh.
They have a certain charm to them, though, don't they" I think it's the goofy, well-intentioned sincerity that wins me over. And, every once on a while... they're actually pretty funny.
