I remember being a new mom in a new city and literally trolling Target for mom friends. I would find myself at the park chatting with a mom and wanting to ask for her name and number and feeling so awkward like I was trying to pick her up. I could not muster the courage. What if she thought that was weird" What if she turned me down"
If you are struggling to make mom friends, you aren't alone. Here are 10 ways you can break the ice with a new mom you just met and start a friendship.
1. ?How do you spell your name" I'm going to look you up on Facebook"" When I meet a new mom at karate or the park I always look her up on social media. Usually, we have mutual friends and it's another point of connection. It?s also a great way to stalk them to see if they have real friend potential. 2. ?I'm hosting a playdate on Friday, can I have your number to text you"? This is probably the least creepy way to ask for a mom's number. Also, hosting a group playdate is sort of like doing a group date -- super casual and a great way to see if there?s a connection.
3. ?Can you text me the info for your ______"? Fill in the blank: babysitter, daycare, pediatrician. This is another non-stalker way to move the second base (a.k.a. texting) with a new mom friend.
