11 celebrities get incredibly honest about infertility

One in eight couples struggles to start a family.
It's a devastating statistic, and it doesn't discriminate. Infertility impacts families across the country, regardless of race, age and income.
Celebrity brings with it a lot of perks - money and adoration, to name just a couple - but even that status offers no protection against infertility. Several stars have been incredibly honest about their own difficult experiences, the obstacles and heartbreaks along their paths to parenthood. In honor of National Infertility Awareness Week, here's a look at some of their stories.
Nicole Kidman is mom to four children: Her oldest two, Bella and Connor, were adopted and her youngest, Faith, arrived via a surrogate. She gave birth to her "miracle" baby Sunday in 2008. "I had tried and failed and failed and failed. Not to be too detailed, but I?ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I?ve had fertility treatments. I?ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try get pregnant. I had so much time thinking that wasn?t going to happen in my life and trying to understand that. When it did happen ? and for it to be a surprise ? that was great."
Aisha Tyler revealed in 2013 that she and her then husband Jeff Tietjens had given up on their hopes of having a child after years of trying. They divorced in 2016, after 23 years of marriage.
