12 Days of Cookies: Dark Chocolate Orange Slice-n-Bakes
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life & Home
If I were to hand out awards for the cookies in this series, this one would get "Most Gourmet". There is something so sophisticated about the dark chocolate and orange combination. It's a contrast in flavors and colors, and always wows a more sophisticated palate. (That said, my 12-year-old also loved this cookie the most and she is NOT sophisticated!)
My favorite thing about these cookies is that you can make the dough whenever, then just store it in your fridge or freezer til you're ready. Then it's not so much work on the day you actually need them. Also, you can bake them up, dip them in the chocolate and then freeze them and they still hold up really well after a quick defrost. That's what I'll be doing this Christmas.
The cookie itself is scented with orange zest and orange juice. You'll want to squeeze the juice straight from the orange for best flavor. For the chocolate, I prefer bittersweet (dark) chocolate but my kiddos like the semisweet best. You decide! Looking for more Sweets and Eats for the Whole Family" Find Lindsay at Sugar Mama.
