13 "meh" steps: A so-over-it mom?s guide to back-to-school

If you're like me, you dread making school lunches, sorting through piles of crumpled-up handouts from the bottom of your kids' backpacks, and having to keep up with the obligatory laundry load and bath schedule that back-to-school time necessitates.
Sure, the kiddos could use more time apart (they're fighting over the same dumb crap every day now, almost like it's Groundhog's Day). But that's not enough of a reason for you to feel like facing the reality that for the next 9 months, you are going to have to set an alarm, cook for real (no ordering pizzas at 8:00 P.M. after finally sauntering home from the pool anymore), and, shudder, learn how to do fourth grade math all over again.
So if you are like me, you'll approach back to school like it's the summer. As in, being kinda over putting that much effort into it. In case you need some tips on being over it, yes already, here's what to do: Step 1. Buy new shoes, but just for kids whose feet literally no longer fit in their sneakers from last year. Or, if the soles are actually detached from the shoe. Otherwise, just go with what you have, because, good enough.
Step 2. Purchase school supplies; only those you can find at Target within a minute of looking, of course. There will be no scouring the aisles for 2? sticky divider tabs, if all you can find is the 1? variety. Again, good enough.
Step 3. Stop into The Gap and buy kids a new pair of pants, at 50 percent off. Fact; this is ...
