170,000 birth control packs have been recalled: here's what you need to know

Women who use the birth control pill Taytulla should check their blister packs ASAP.
That's because 170,000 physician sample packs have been recalled due to a potential mistake in packaging, CBS News reported. Allergan -- the maker of Taytulla -- issued a nationwide recall earlier this week after becoming aware of physician sample packs with misplaced capsules that could result in unintended pregnancies.
A physician report revealed that four placebo capsules were placed out of order in a sample pack of Taytulla. The packs should have 24 pink capsules with hormones followed by four non-hormone maroon capsules, CNN reported. However, a faulty pack had the four maroon placebos at the beginning of the treatment. Here's what a recalled pack looks like:

"As a result of this packaging error, oral contraceptive capsules, that are taken out of sequence, may place the user at risk for contraceptive failure and unintended pregnancy,"Allergan said in a news release. "The reversing of the order may not be apparent to either new users or previous users of the product, increasing the likelihood of taking the capsules out of order."
So yeah. This is kind of a big deal -- considering most women are probably taking Taytulla to specifically prevent pregnancy.
Allergan will be notifying customers via a recall letter. The drug maker is also arranging for the return of all sample pack products marke...
