3 easy, impressive things to make for your diaper-themed shower
by Nicole Hempeck posted in Life & Home
A diaper cake is a fun way to give a handy and beautiful gift to any new mom, especially if her little one has already arrived and is busily using up diapers at a frantic rate. The traditional three-tiered diaper cakes are great, but I always liked the more unique designs, like the tricycle (also known as a motorcycle), which makes a fantastic core piece to a diaper-themed baby shower (see below for how-tos on making the tricycle cake).
Bathing and diapering supplies also work well as decor because you can create display pieces like that diaper tricycle, a diaper bouquet, and diaper basket, all to be featured center stage at your loved one's shower. Then after the party, each piece will have a different, distinct use.
That's a win in my book.
This diaper bouquet has the rolled up "roses" on dowels that you'll find in most tutorials online. However, I also chose to fill it out with color and dimension using tissue paper flowers.
I found a great tutorial from the gals at Project Nursery to walk me through the paper flower steps. Once those were made, I secured them to dowels along with the diaper roses and a couple of travel-sized bathing items. I then stuck those into a styrofoam ball (cut in half) and set it at the top of the vase. The hurricane vase was filled with diapering and bathing goodies like Desitin, Johnson's Baby Lotion, and Johnson's Hand and Face Wipes.
The real fun for this diapering shower, though, ...
