4 things plus-size moms should know about pregnancy weight gain

When it comes to pregnancy, there are a few topics no one likes to talk about: hemorrhoids, random body hair that pops up in the most unexpected areas, and weight gain.
While hemorrhoids and body hair can leave you feeling uncomfortable, they are easy things to disguise (or pluck). Weight gain, on the other hand, is a complicated topic that no amount of black, flowy clothing can fully conceal.
For moms of all sizes, talking about weight gain can be a difficult subject. Yet, for plus size women it comes with additional emotional and medical obstacles that we?ll be addressing within this article.
Just know that, like hemorrhoids and body hair, weight gain (or even loss) is a normal part of a plus size pregnancy! While all of these things can cause some embarrassment, you should never be made to feel ashamed of your body. 1. Weight gain recommendations
When you?re plus size and pregnant (which means you have a BMI over 30) you go into pregnancy with some additional increased risks for pregnancy complications including gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. This definitely doesn?t mean you can?t have a completely healthy pregnancy though! All this means is that you want to do everything within your control to be healthy. Part of that is trying not to gain too much weight.
