5 fresh baby shower games that won't destroy your dignity
by Sara McGinnis posted in Pregnancy
We did all the classic games at my baby shower a dozen years ago: guess the baby food flavor, melted chocolate bars in the diaper, and the somewhat-mortifying cutting a string that you think will fit around the mom-to-be's belly.
There's a reason these games are repeated at baby showers far and wide -- they're fun. Still, it's nice to shake things up once in a while, especially for guests who are frequent attendees of these affairs.
Here are five fresh baby shower games I'm tempted to try out, shower or not!
1. Parenthood is sweet
Go on a shopping spree for the sweets listed below. Make a board or table of the items that is visible to everyone. Give the guests a list of pregnancy- or parenting-related descriptions and ask them to match those descriptions to the most fitting candy name. Creativity is key, but here are some ideas to get you started...
Twins = M&Ms
Triplets = 3 Musketeers
Contractions = Whoppers
Epidural = Lifesavers
Hospital bill = Payday
Breastfeeding = Milky Way
College costs = 100 Grand
Girl's name = Baby Ruth
Boys' names = Mike & Ike
Mom's post-birth stomach = Jelly Belly
Lullabies = Symphony
Night of conception = Skor
Dirty diaper = Tootsie Roll
Piles of dirty laundry = Mounds
You can never giver your child enough = Kisses
2. Doodle time
This "creative" game doesn't require any artistic talent -- and actually, the less skilled the participants are, the funnier it can be.
Give each person a pen...
