5 perfect shades of gray paint colors to update your home
by Lindsay Weiss posted in Life
If there's one thing we laughed about after building our home, it's the sheer number of gray paint samples we slathered on our walls. Thirteen to be exact, and that was only on the interior.
(Though these walls look perfectly pristine, you'd never guess there are THIRTEEN horrible mistakes painted underneath!)
If you're looking for a perfect gray paint, I'm your girl. I've tried pinky-gray, purple-blue-gray, green-gray, dirty gray, barely-there-gray, and way-too-dark gray. Grays, if you haven't noticed, can go horribly wrong. Gray loves to partner up with other colors and take on a life of its own, which can be lovely if you're looking for gray-with-a-hint-of-something, but not if you want just a nice, simple gray. Here are my five favorite grays for interior colors:
Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore)
This is perhaps the world's worst-kept secret because it's one of the most popular colors in the U.S.
(and has been for years). There's a reason for this -- Revere Pewter is like a chameleon that just "works" in any room. It can go a little warm and taupe if you need it to. In my house, it looks perfectly light gray. In a house with warmer colors it can bridge the gap between browns/taupes/golds and a more modern gray. This is the color I suggest to ANYONE who doesn't have a budget to get all-new furniture right now, still has some brown tones in their décor, and wants to update. This color, plus some fresh new accessories and pillows...
