5 things you should do (in an ideal world) during your second trimester
by Jamie Reed posted in Pregnancy
I wasn't real familiar with all the stages of pregnancy before I got pregnant. I had no idea that the second trimester is often referred to as the "honeymoon period," hopefully meaning that first trimester morning sickness has eased up, you start to get some energy back, and for some women, you feel pretty great.
Coming out the first trimester for me meant food was starting to sound a little more appealing, I no longer had a complete and total aversion to my computer (kind of essential to my line of work!), and I went through lots of days of feeling totally normal -- aside from tiny baby jabs in my stomach. I knew I had a small window of time to get some things done before the third trimester exhaustion creeps in. Here are a few of the productive fantasies I came up with: 5 things you should do during your second trimester (if you do them at all)
1. Catch up on what you missed in the first trimester
For me, that meant catching up with friends, tackling the pile(s) of laundry on the couch, and rescheduling that dentist appointment I had canceled in the early weeks of pregnancy. (When your gag reflex is already heightened the thought of someone's hands in your mouth is not appealing.) While getting some of my routine back has been nice, there are still plenty of days I skip the laundry and opt for a nap instead. I've only got a few more months of uninterrupted nap time and that laundry will still be there for me to fold tomorrow....
