6 adorable newborn photos that will make your ovaries ache
by Carolyn Robertson posted in Parenting
After my second daughter was born, I signed off from having babies. But every once in a while I'll see a newborn photo that threatens to bring my ovaries out of retirement.
Australian photographer Rebecca Colefax specializes in just that kind of photo.
Once a professional kitesurfer, the mom-of-three put that career on hold after having her children. That's when she resumed her love affair with photography, a hobby she'd shelved to pursue her sport.
Rebecca was soon drawn to family photography, and to capturing the sweet moments of newborns in particular, perhaps because she knows all too well just how fleeting those moments are.
"Parents that have had children, they realise that time moves very, very quickly and that your newborn baby is only a newborn for a very short period of time," she told the Daily Mail. From sleepy smiles to tummy rolls, Rebecca's photos capture all those details moms and dads long to remember.
"I really like to tell the story of the baby, rather than what the baby is in or what the baby is wearing," she explains of her unique style. "Something that tells a story to the parents about their child, and the beauty of them naturally and the simplicity of their tininess, their little features, the delicate nature of what a newborn baby is."
Here are some images she shared with us...
