When you're child is small and doesn't have homework yet, he doesn't need a massive backpack. Instead, there are many options now for smaller preschool backpacks that will fit your little ones great. Whether you're getting ready for September and have small backpacks on your list, or your planning your next trip with your preschooler, this list will work for you.
In selecting these backpacks I tested to make sure each one fits a standard sized folder, water cup, and a few rocks without tipping my child over or being unable to zip. I also only picked cool designs that received two thumbs up from my two preschoolers.
Here are 7 cool back-to-school backpacks for small preschooler shoulders:

Dimensions: 11  x 5 x 12 inches

Thoughts: These come in several different animal designs. They barely fit a standard folder, but the size of the backpack is just right for preschoolers.

Dimensions:  17 3/4 x 12 1/2 x 6 in

Thoughts: This backpack is a little larger than other ones on the list, but gets top points for being ridiculously light. My 3-year-old also commented on how soft the material is.

Dimensions: 14 x 12.5 x 6.5 in

Thoughts: This preschooler backpack fits folders great and can even work well for a smaller child starting later elementary levels. It fits a lot!
