7 DIY-Halloween costume ideas for your little Smarties

I was horrified last night as I scrolled online to find a potential Halloween costume for each of my three girls. Many of the outfits already looked a little, well, risqué, even for kids as young as 6. Googling "rainbow unicorn costume" turned out some doozies; shoulder cut-outs, and short, short skirts. Even some animal costumes managed to skimp on fabric and turn a cute idea, into a shudder-worthy one.
That's why I love these DIY-Halloween costumes, created for Smarties candy. All of the ideas are based on historical "smarties" who changed the world with their brains and talent! These are outfits that inspire kids to be great, instead of teaching them that they have to show skin to get somewhere in life. Ugh! Most costumes require about 5 - 10 items to create, and the items are pretty reasonable; like an iron, a plain black dress, tights, double-sided tape, and props you likely have around the house already, or can easily get your hands on.
