7 techniques to combat picky eating (and your picky eater!)

There have been nights I dread dinner time. Nights when I don?t know what kind of battle I?m going to face when I present a plate of food to my toddler. But over the years I?ve learned some ways to outsmart my kids, and I've also gathered some tips from friends that may help those kids realize they like more foods than they know.
Here are seven techniques that can help you deal with your own picky eaters.
1. Give them variety: I like to put several small portions of different items in mini-muffin pans, or ice cube trays. The variety of fruit and veggie colors gets them excited about the food, and the small portion sizes are less intimidating.
2. Try try try again:Â If your picky child refuses to try a new food, don't assume he or she doesn't like it. Offer it again and again and over time your little one may finally give it a try. 3. Dunk it: Sometimes giving foods a condiment to dip it in can make all the difference and can even make it into a fun experience. Broccoli in melted cheese or ranch dressing can make the veggie more tasty for some little ones. In our house peanut butter and celery is a favorite.
4. It?s all in the packaging: Appearance matters for picky eaters. Try using toy plates to present a new food, or arrange a meal in a smiley face. It may at least get them into a brighter mood when a new food is smiling at them.
5. Share it: I don?t know about you but reverse psychology works now and then with my picky...
