9 things to learn from parenting practices around the world

I don't want to speak for all parents, but I know I get so wrapped up in parenting practices and trends in the U.S. -- helicopter moms, co-sleeping, home birth, hating on formula feeders, sharing your postpartum journey on social media, serving organic meals -- that I don't stop to think about what moms and dads around the world are doing.
Saving Spot recently looked at international parenting practices, and I for one found this sneak peek into other cultures' child-rearing ideals very enlightening. American parents could learn from how our international counterparts pull off the hardest job there is. Read on to see how parents from France to Kenya raise their young.
Apparently, French parents do not engage in baby talk with their infants. Instead, they speak to their little ones as they would speak to a fellow adult in an effort to help kids develop early language skills. Um, is it bad to admit I kinda like baby talk" It gives me an excuse to be silly and extra lovey-dovey with my beloveds.
Babysitters' fees are low in Argentina, where parents seem a little more fun than us Americans. They let their kiddos stay up as late as they do to learn how to socialize. Hmm... this parenting trend wouldn't be for me, as I love my adult time! That's why my kids go to bed early. Sorry Argentinian parents!
