A healthy breakfast with no morning effort: Overnight oats
by Kami Bigler posted in Life & Home
Starting the school year routine can be a little rocky. One thing that helps are quick and easy breakfast ideas, like overnight oats. Have you ever made them before" We?re loving them lately as an easy go-to breakfast that's gluten and dairy free -- not to mention good for you, too.
There are a few different ways to eat your oats too. I enjoy it cold in the morning, but you could microwave it for a minute if you'd want them warm. I also eat it right from the jar, but you could always serve it in a bowl, and bump it up a notch by adding your favorite fruit, berries, almond milk, and honey like I've shown you.
The chia seeds expand in the fridge overnight and give the oats a great consistency. They?re a great way to start your day because of the long-term energy they provide. They have so many health benefits, including lots of protein and fiber. These overnight oats are one of my favorite ways to eat them. Here's the simple recipe: Ingredients:
½ cup rolled oats (gluten free oats)
½ cup almond milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
Instructions:
Mix all the ingredients together in a glass jar. Stir or shake well, cover, and refrigerate overnight. The next morning, remove from the fridge, top off with your favorite fresh fruit and berries, more almond milk and a drizzle of honey.
It makes a great grab-and-go breakfast!
Have you ever made anything with chia seeds"
