Add these fun picture books to your bedtime reading repertoire

This past weekend was the most wonderful time of the year.
No, not Christmas!
I?m talking about the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, an annual two-day celebration of the written word. There are book signings by authors and illustrators, on-site book vendors, and a schedule packed with fascinating panels and conversations. The festival also includes art, games, food trucks, and a whole lot of fun for the entire family. Best of all, admission is always free.
I attend the festival almost every year, but this was the first time I brought my son along. He immediately found some celebs to hang out with.
He was a little shy around Olivia.
During our Bookchella weekend, we met several children?s authors and illustrators, and we read dozens of great books published in the past year.
Here are our picks for the best picture books right now:
? Life on Mars by Jon Agee (ages 4-8)
This fun and silly picture book, which centers on a bear who doesn?t show up to the page, will please kids of all ages. It?s brimming with sight gags for the younger kids, while older kids will enjoy the wordplay.
