I'm an expert-level baby swaddler, thanks to desperation. When my second son cried for 20 minutes out of every hour as an infant I perfected the technique of wrapping him in a blanket to simulate the womby coziness he seemed to be missing.

According to the BBC, this type of therapy is called otonamaki. New York Post goes on to explain that otonamaki "originated two years ago, when Japanese midwife Nobuko Watanabe wanted to reassure nervous new parents that swaddling isn?t scary for babies. Although I can't recall the last time I was truly swaddled, one of my favorite places to be is tucked tightly under a heavy jean quilt my mom made for me years ago. There's something undeniably cozy about being encompassed by fabric, and after years of snuggling in the blanket, it's a cue for me to chill.
