Amanda Seyfried carves out one-on-one time for her firstborn -- a dog

Most pets-only parents have the best of intentions toward their furry creatures when they decide to add a human baby to the mix. But then life just happens.
Somewhere between the newborn up-all-nights and the hectic nature of toddlerhood, the daily walking schedule falls to the wayside and the kid takes top priority over the pets. It's not intentional, but when your genetic offspring demands so much from you the last thing you need is a barking, shedding, pooping animal to clean up after.
Amanda Seyfried is one celebrity parent who's determined not let her pooch get neglected, however. Not only does she consider her 8-year-old dog Finn her "firstborn," she carves out special one-on-one time for him...even as a first-time mom to a 13-month-old (human) baby girl. The actress, who has chosen not to share her daughter's name publicly, recently spoke with Us Weekly about her two "children." An excerpt:
"They have different needs in certain ways, physically," Seyfried said of babies and pets. "But emotionally they need your presence."
Seyfried, who calls Finn, "my son, my firstborn," makes sure she carves out alone time for just the two of them. "We have a very, very intense emotional connection and I never want him to feel left out," she told Us. "A dog has feelings too."
As for Finn adjusting to his role as "big brother" the Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again actress...
