Baby carriers are built tough and tested intensely, so they tend to be on the more expensive side, with many of our favorites in the $150 to $250 range and high weight limits up to 25, 45, even 60 pounds.
Those kinds of mighty carriers have their upsides: They're comfortable, they last you a long time, and they do a marvelous job of distributing your child's weight. But on the other hand, they're expensive, heavy, difficult to carry around, and may be overkill if you have an infant, a small or light child, or are not planning on all-day hikes or long outings.
