Can we talk about vaginal discharge during pregnancy"

WHAT was that" Did I just pee a little" Am I bleeding" What is that" Discharge"! Gross! Is that normal"!
Discharge during pregnancy is one of those lovely side effects you never seem to find out about until you experience it, not unlike shooting round ligament pains, darkening nipples, and uncontrollable flatulence.
My guess is because one, it's not glamorous -- at all. And, two, because who even wants to say words like "nipple" and "discharge""
Anyway, now that the ice is broken we are going to talk about it. So, what is okay and normal"
While most times an increase in discharge during pregnancy is totally normal, there are other times it can be a red flag that something is wrong. According to BabyCenter Expert, discharge that is "clear or milky-white, thin to thick or mucus-like, and odorless or mild-smelling" is totally typical thanks to an increase in our little friend estrogen, as well as a rise in the blood flowing to your vagina. The discharge is called "leukorrhea," and you probably had it while you weren't pregnant, and just have more of it now.
On the other hand, make sure you call your midwife or doctor if discharge is green, smells unpleasant, or causes pain, as these can be signs of a yeast or bacterial infection or a sexually transmitted disease. Now is not the right time to just waltz into the drugstore for some OTC yeast infection medicine...
