Canadian baby is the first ever born with no gender designation

An 8-month-old baby recently became the first in Canada to have "U" listed as the sex on their health card -- Â and is possibly the first health card in the world not to have a gender designation.
Now, the baby's parent, Kori Doty, is fighting to have their infant's gender listed as "U" -- for "unidentified" or "unassigned" --  on the baby's birth certificate as well. Doty gave birth to Searyl Atli at a friend's home this past November and wants to keep Searyl's sex off official documents. According to Doty, a visual inspection of genitals at birth cannot determine what sex or gender a person will identify with later in life.
"When I was born, doctors looked at my genitals and made assumptions about who I would be, and those assignments followed me and followed my identification throughout my life," Doty said. &...
