Dinner is done, mess surrounds you and you are spent. Your day has gone pretty well. You have been checking tasks off your list and you have worn many hats. You've been everything from a nurse, to janitor, to playmate, to mother, and possibly an employer, or business owner. You were able to get a fairly nutritious dinner on the table after school and daycare pick-ups, and it wasn?t a battle this time.
You are winning, but beyond exhausted.
It?s time to pull out the iPad and let your kids indulge in whatever it is they love on YouTube at that moment--toy unboxing, try not to laugh videos, kinder egg surprise videos, you name it. At this point you will put up with listening to it, even if it drives you crazy. These trendy videos buy you precious time to decompress, tidy up and prepare yourself to go back into battle for bath, story and bedtime.
Recently our family stumbled across a different type of video trend on YouTube, and not only are all four kids hooked, but even I find them pretty entertaining to watch.
While aimlessly watching videos of YouTubers I have subscribed to, with my 2-year-old daughter, Mia, on my lap, a cleaning routine video came on. I watched as Mia stared amazed and enthralled.
Later that day while chaos ensued just before bedtime, Mia tasked me to put on, as she put it, ?the lady that cleans.? I obliged and in that moment, all four of our kids, (a boy and three girls), plopped down on our couch and sat totally glued...
