I know you must have been shocked to see a sleeping baby in an unattended car after pulling up next to my blue minivan. I know the first thing you probably thought was, Who would leave a 10-month-old baby in a car, alone"
Well, I did. And here is why.
About an hour before I was due to pick up my older boys from school, I loaded my almost 10-month-old baby in the car -- praying a nice little drive would ease him to sleep. He was cutting his first two teeth and was absolutely miserable. Neither of us had slept well in days, so I was beyond grateful when, at a stop light, I peeked back and noticed he was soundly sleeping. I maneuvered the van along side streets in our little town of less than 3,000 people, checking things off my mental to-do list. Then, I remembered something I had forgotten -- to buy loaf pans for beer bread that I was to bring to my sister-in-law?s house later that night.
Ours were in storage, so I decided I would check the local thrift store for some cheap replacements.
I pulled up to the store, locked and remotely started the van, and left my cranky baby to sleep.
I walked into the thrift store and directly past the cashier is the kitchen supplies. I immediately spotted two loaf pans and as I waited in line to pay the $1.60 my husband started calling my phone. Not wanting to be ?one of those people? I stepped out of line and walked to the wi...
