Delicious and fast baked French toast is the perfect brunch food
by Laura Falin posted in Life
I am definitely and undoubtedly a breakfast person. I'd eat breakfast for every meal if I could. I have to limit myself to only making breakfast for dinner once a week, or I might go a little out of control.
And I really, really love me some French toast. It's so simple and easy and tasty. Since I like it so much, I've tried it in almost all its forms -- French toast casseroles, French toast bakes, French toast sticks. Any way you can make it, I've eaten it.
The problem with a lot of baked French toast recipes, though, is you have to make and refrigerate them the night before. Super-yummy, but not very convenient when you want to eat some right now. That's where this recipe comes in. That's right, my friends -- baked French toast you don't have to refrigerate! Have your toast and eat it, too...only about 20 minutes later. The cinnamon crust on this is so sweet and crumbly, kind of like a coffee cake, that you don't even need to serve it with butter or syrup. You can eat it nice and piping hot out of the oven with no extra condiments. Also, it's worth noting that you kind of make this upside-down. The sugar mixture goes on the bottom of your pan, and you place your bread over it, bake it, and then flip the bread so the tasty sugary-goodness is on top.
