Don't get sick at the doctor's office
by Claudia Boyd-Barrett posted in Parenting
It's that time of year when cold and flu is rampant, which means the waiting room at your child's doctor's office could be harboring some nasty germs ? yuck!.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has updated guidelines for doctors on how to keep their offices germ-free, and has included some helpful advice for parents. Here are a few nuggets on how to avoid contracting and spreading infections next time you visit your child's pediatrician. ? Bring your own toys and books for your child to play with. Toys in the waiting room ? especially plush ones- can be a germ magnet.
? Make sure you and your child cover your nose and mouth with the inside of your elbows when you sneeze. Don't use your hands, which spread germs more easily.
