Fisher-Price Soothing Motions: Some mamaRoo competition
by Joyce Slaton posted in Products & Prizes
Parents love the 4moms mamaRoo because of its cool, parent-like motion: It bounces, sways, and hops rather than just going back-and-forth like a swing. Not every baby goes nuts over it, but those who do, go absolutely bonkers -- in the sense that they stop shrieking and start smiling. You can get a look at the motion starting at :12 in the following video:
But the price tag -- $270 -- is hard to swallow, particularly considering that the mamaRoo is the kind of product that's great, but only for a short time; a year at most. Anything that entertains your infant and gives you a minute off is metaphorically worth its weight in gold, but not everyone can shell out that much for a short-term solution.
So the new Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Seat is quite the bargain in comparison at $160, offering mamaRoo-like movement for $110 less. It swirls mesmerizingly from side to side, making the (groovy) diamond mobile above the seat tremble:
It "hops" gently up and down like a mom or dad bouncing baby:
It can recline flat for a brand-newborn or sit up straighter for older babies:
And it has vibrations and sound, which parents control through big easy-to-use buttons, along with movement speed:
Pretty cool! Check it out, if you're in the market for a baby soother.
