Girlfriends' guide to rolling over in bed while pregnant
by Whitney Barthel posted in Mom Stories
In the last few weeks of gestation, most moms will tell you nothing is comfortable -- nothing. I often find myself parenting (and procrastinating on work deadlines) from my recliner. It has gotten to the point where clothing is even uncomfortable; I frequently roll my shirts up past my belly and let it all hang out.
Not only are we third-trimester moms uncomfortable during the day our pregnancy pains follow us right to bed. Lying in bed can prove to be just as painful as standing or sitting upright. Resting on your back makes it impossible to breathe, while sleeping on your side makes your hips feel like they are going to tear in two.
So, the only solution is to spend the whole night rolling from one position to another and hopefully getting a few winks in between moments of agony. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. For anyone who has ever been there, they will tell you one does not merely roll over while largely pregnant.
And for those looking forward to this stage -- or those experiencing it and in need of comedic relief -- I have put together a few photos to illustrate a step-by-step guide provided by a very insightful mom-to-be on BabyCenter Community.
Here is our collaboration:
1. Notice that you are feeling uncomfortable in your back, shoulders, neck, hips, legs, knees, etc.
2. Ignore for six minutes or until all you can think about is the pain.
3. Push blanket down so it isn't thrown off the bed by your bell...
