Ever wonder what Michael Phelps and his fiancee were thinking when they choose the name Boomer for their son" It turns out the pair simply loved the sound associated with the moniker -- and they weren't looking to go the traditional route. Despite owning expected names like Michael and Nicole themselves, the pair wanted to think outside of the box.
"We heard the name, and we didn't want, like, a normal name," the gold medalist told Jimmy Fallon on a recent episode of The Tonight Show. "And I brought it up to Nicole and she was like, 'Oh, that sounds kinda cool.'"
Believe it or not, that's nearly the end of the story.
"Boomer, like boom boom ? we didn?t know either," the swimmer briefly elaborated with a laugh. "We had no second option ? once we picked that, we were like, ?Yeah.' He?s definitely gonna be the cool kid."
As for he and Nicole walking down the aisle, Michael shared, "We?re getting married at the end of the year. We have a very busy year. But we?re excited and pumped, and the little man gets to travel everywhere with us, so it?s pretty awesome."
That little one has quite the social following, thanks to getting so much camera time with his mom at the Olympics.
Speaking of Boomer, the proud father shared, "He went from 5,000 followers in late June to ? I think I just looked, and he has like 660,000 followers. It?s insane. He?s gotta be the most followed baby in the ...
