Have the best family vacation ever with these 7 packing tips
by Maggie Downs posted in Life
Until scientists develop a way to teleport all your necessities to your vacation destination (and just why isn?t NASA working on that"), the unfortunate reality is that you?re going to spend part of your summer packing.
The good news is that once you have a system, getting out the door can be a breeze.
Whether you?re headed to the beach for a day or jetting off to an exotic locale, these tips will help you get where you?re going, and with everything you need.
1. Rent or borrow baby gear.
Sometimes the best packing strategy is to not pack the item at all. Depending on where you?re going, check out a service for renting bulky baby items. There are national companies like Baby's Away, which has more than 80 locations in the U.S., or your destination might have a local rental company like Maui on the Fly. Traveling is easier on everyone if you?re not lugging around a bunch of clunky equipment. Also call ahead to see if your hotel has portable cribs for use (many do), or put out a call on social media to see what you can borrow from friends or friends-of-friends.
For instance, we scored with these sand toys, borrowed from a friend in Manhattan Beach.
7. Don't pack too many toys.
Finding new toys in your destination is part of the fun in traveling! And I'm not talking about expensive items either. Anything can be a toy -- even logs.
