Help! When a lovey gets ruined...a parenting dilemma

You know those puddle-size tears and hyperventilating sobs typically reserved for bleeding knees and goldfish burials" I got those today. For 45 minutes.
It ripped my heart into tiny little pieces.
Since C is my third kiddo, I don't coddle him much. He is my amicable sidekick most days, tagging along wherever his bro and sis need to go. He's a dutiful sports watcher, gear carrier, run-to-the-store-and-pick-up-the-99th-thing-we-forgot, companion. He doesn't ask for much, except that these two Hatchimals go with us everywhere.
He lovingly hatched these creatures last Christmas and, despite them being pink and "obviously for girls" (nice job, me!) they are his besties in life right now and he takes his job as caretaker seriously. Named Annie and Zoey, they eat breakfast with him, ride in the car with him, nap with him, and sit on his bedside table to "keep him safe" at night. He took them to Grandma's house a few days ago and accidentally left them there overnight. When we went back to grab them the next morning, Grandma delivered them to our car. We went on our merry way and three minutes later I hear "OH MY GOSH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" from the back seat followed immediately by hysterical sobs.
Grandma's dog had gotten hold of Zoey's wings.
It's a little defect, to be sure. But to my 5-year-old it was the end of the world. Sobs upon sobs.
"We have to get a new Zoey, mama!"
"They'll never...
