Help your child overcome potty training fears

A few weeks ago, I wrote about my child George, who is in the middle of his very own potty training journey. After taking the Pull-Ups® potty personality quiz to figure out his potty personality - a Squirrel, Turtle, Bear Cub, Owl or Puppy - I learned he is a Bear Cub, and got some helpful tips tailored to his unique personality from Pull-Ups partner and child development expert Dr. Heather Wittenberg.
But here's the thing. All parents must remember, in potty training and just in general, what works for one kid might not work for another. Even for children in the same family.
For example, our 4-year-old Frankie, an Owl potty personality, had an entirely different potty journey than George. While his inquisitive nature made discussing and using the "big boy" potty a breeze at home, Frankie's attention to detail and differences in each environment made him skeptical of using the toilet away from home.
Because of Frankie's need for consistency, I ended up bringing a potty chair everywhere in the van...and stashing one at every single relative?s house.
I wish I had known about the #PottyPartnership, since I one of the things I learned is that Owl potty personalities are pretty fascinated by the potty supplies, I definitely could have eased his fears by carefully explaining the differences between the potty at home and the ones everywhere else, with clear direction and expectations.
