How do you feed your family during spring sports season"
by Tara Shafer posted in Parenting
I hate meal planning during spring sports season. I hate it so much.
The dash between school, sports fields, pools, and all the rest is pretty intense. By the time we all get home and there is still homework to consider I have kind of had it.
Too often, we end up at Panera.
I really can?t cook in the evening post practice. To be honest, menu planning in general is one of my (many) parental Achilles heels. So please, without judgement, help me. (As a mom, I like to try to tease apart what I know to be the embarrassment of riches. I try to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Â That this is a nuisance more than it is a problem is not lost on me).
I have multiple children, and multiple daily sports obligations. I am not in a position to commit to regular childcare, and carpools don?t work either because the teams my kids? participate on draw from different schools and different districts. There are many things I like about sports and kids but the growing over-commitment from a young age requires juggling on an order previous parenting iterations have not. I have tried preparing meals during the day but this can only be accomplished when I am able to work from home that day.
I have prepared sandwiches in advance, but that is also a bit of a fail because, really, who wants a sandwich for dinner"
I've tried meal kits but even if they send all the ingredients, if I get home at 8 and start cooking immediately, we won?t eat until 9 which is, of cours...
