Ask a toddler why they ask, "Why"" so often and you're guaranteed to get only one answer: "Why""
Keep track of how many times your toddler asks "Why"" in a day and share it online and you're bound to get an earful -- from those who can commiserate and those who can't comprehend why you don't explain everything under the sun (and sometimes things even beyond) all day long. Seriously.
User motherofmischief recently found this out firsthand, after posting a funny photo of a handheld click counter she used for a day to track her 3-year-old's inquiries: 115!
Here's a sampling of the comments she received on Reddit, which range from fun to frustrating:
theo_sontag: Our oldest went through a phase where he kept saying "Mommy"" before he said anything. On our 6 hour trip from MN to WI, he said it over 200 times. He slept for half of it. skankenstein: Yup. Mine doesn?t do the "why," but "Hey, Mama." Some days it makes me want to crawl out of my skin -- every comment starts with: "Hey, Mama." When I've had enough I ask him to call me something else. He usually switches to my first name.
