How to hire the perfect photographer for your family pics
by Whitney Barthel posted in Products & Prizes
As we put our house on the market this spring I joked that anyone coming to look at our home would think we only had two children, when in fact we were pregnant with number four.
It is a sad truth for most families. After the first one or two children are born, the novelty of taking pictures for every milestone wears off.
So, you are left with an abundance of pictures of your first child, a few of your second, and virtually none of your third. For this reason I made a conscious decision to make sure we capture as many moments as possible going forward -- especially for our younger children.
Luckily, a very close friend of mine is an extremely gifted photographer. Knowing this isn't always the case for everyone I spent some time researching things one should consider to ensure a family photo shoot is a success. After interviewing my photographer friend, Craig, I was able to come up with five things to look out for when hiring someone to take your photos. During our discussion, Craig stated:
"What should happen is for people to ask themselves what kind of style they are looking for and what kind of photography best fits in their home.
The problem we run into is people just pick whoever is the cheapest, whether they are a good fit or not. Capturing your family?s milestones shouldn?t be looked at as a commodity.
While price definitely should be part of the decision, the key is to figure out your needs and find a photographer...
