How we made this sweet nursery on a barely-there budget
by Tabitha Blue posted in Parenting
After consecutively decorating nurseries and bedrooms for my two boys, I was pretty excited to decorate for a girl. But with four kids, a nursery in our house means repurposing items that we already have to stay within budget. With any design plan, I definitely try to find ways to save while I take into account more that one person's style and taste.
I have a 10-year-old whose favorite colors are mint and teal; since she'd be sharing a room with our littlest babe, I had to factor that color scheme into the plan. Thankfully with a few repurposed items, and accessories from the new Cloud Island collection at Target, I was able to hit all our style points and come up with a room that makes everyone happy. We decided to style the room with mid-century modern elements, paired with a few neutral pieces to ground the look. There's a pretty hint of mint on the walls, and a few whimsical floral touches sprinkled in to bring the look together.
For any family on a budget, repurposing items is design gold. We had a crib and rocker that was handed down, so those big items were already crossed off our list.
Another big money saver to consider: "shopping" the rest of the house by bringing items you already have into the nursery. The small side table next to the rocker and the seat near the crib, for example, are items we move around our house as needed. Since we want everyone to feel comfortable spending time together in the nurser...
