My husband thinks this post is ridiculous. Working out consists of driving to the gym, lifting heavy weights, and running around a track. At the very least, working out involves driving to the gym and taking a class, preferably one that makes you sweat hard.
While I used to agree with him, being a mom of three has changed my...er, availability to drive to the gym every day. Or every other day. Or every week.
For the first time in my life, I'm finding it really hard to fit exercise in. Even home exercise, which I believe still counts.
Also, childbirth and years of hardcore exercise have taken a bit of a toll on my body. I have some torn cartilage in one hip and one shoulder. My knees are a little achy. My abdominal muscles are not as tight as they used to be. So my definition of exercise has had to change, too. And it's important to listen to my body and not demand that it keep up with the running and boot camps that I've done for so long, especially if it hurts. So, I don't push to work out every day. And on the days that I don't, I focus on doing glute and core strengthening exercises DURING everyday tasks I already have to do around the house. I've been doing this for a few months and it's made a huge difference in my strength and body aches. The key to doing this right is doing these exercises every time you do these tasks.
