I can?t stand still, I?m always doing the ?mom sway?

I've exhibited several new behaviors since my son was born. I sleep with my eyes open. Don't always shower as often as I'd like. Sometimes I leave the house with food on my clothes. I also continuously sway from side to side.
If I'm holding my son it makes sense to rock him. Though sometimes he's not even with me and I still do it, this slow dance of motherhood. I rock side-to-side as if to the tune of a silent beat. Ever since I've given birth I can't stop doing the mom sway.
If you have a child there's a good chance you?ve done it. Maybe you're standing in line. You could be in front of your microwave as you wait for it to reheat your coffee for the seventh time that day. Or asleep with your eyes open in the produce section at the grocery store. The location doesn?t matter. As long as you're up and standing you're probably swaying. Mom swaying. The movement became ingrained during my son's newborn days. In our home the witching hour was more like four or five hours long. My husband and I would take turns rocking our son while he howled. The crying eventually subsided, but the movement never went away.
I rock my son when I hold him. No matter if he's happy, crying, or squealing just to hear his voice, we're in motion. Side to side, the innate movement isn?t even intentional. I just do it. Constantly -- even when he's not in my arms.
