I didn?t make a baby book, and I feel like a jerk
by Becky Vieira posted in Parenting
I have a baby book for my son. It has a yellow duck on the cover, and inside there is plenty of space for photos, notes, and even his tiny hospital bracelet. It?s also sitting untouched in the closet in his nursery; I?ve yet to write even his name on the inside.
And now I feel like a complete jerk because of it. I?m pretty sure this will qualify as a ?mom fail,? and regret slowly creeps in when I think of it.
I don?t know why I didn?t keep a baby book. I?m not opposed to the concept. On the contrary I pored over my sister?s baby book as a child. I loved knowing exactly how much she weighed at birth, or to hold the tiny lock of silky baby tresses from her first haircut. Notice I mentioned my sister?s book and not mine" As the second child, my baby book fell by the wayside somewhere after page two. So you?d think with that personal history I?d be sure to document each milestone down to his first diaper blowout.
But I didn't even loosely capture the memories, I skipped it altogether.
