I had no idea some people really hated pacifiers so much

In the world of parenting people have strong opinions: Breastmilk versus formula. SAHMs versus moms who work outside of the home. Bed sharing versus sleep-training.
And don't even dare to utter the word "circumcision."
Unless you want hurt feelings and a few choice words flying, it's probably best to steer clear from these debates in parenting forums and IRL.
But honestly, I had no idea that people had such hatred for pacifiers. I've been a mom for 6 1/2 years, and I always thought pacifiers were one of those things that you either used or didn't. The end.
Silly me.
By now, I should know parents get judged for pretty much everything we do.
Out of three kids, my middle child was the only one who took a pacifier. I'm not saying it was necessarily related, but she also happened to be the best sleeper. By a landslide. We only gave her a paci for naps and at night because it helped her fall (and stay) asleep. When it was all said and done, she used pacifiers at nighttime until about 2 1/2-years-old.
The reason I'm even on the topic of pacifiers is because of a blurb of celebrity news I stumbled upon. Apparently, Nicky Hilton is "thrilled" that her two daughters -- ages 21 months and 4 months -- managed to avoid pacifiers, Us Weekly reported. ?I see two and three-year-olds walking around with pacifiers,? Hilton recently shared. ?I was really strict about it and neither of them like pacifiers."
