I never forget how hard it was to be a single mom with a baby

I was a single mother when I had my daughter Ayva eight years ago. My ex and I parted ways while I was pregnant, and I knew he wasn?t going to be much help once she was born. I did what I could to prepare for a life of taking care of a baby all on my own. While it wasn?t easy, it didn?t take long for me to figure out how to navigate solo parenting. I didn?t have a choice.
The day she was born, my hospital room was filled with family and friends. They stayed through the evening, eating cake and taking pictures. It was a fun party-like atmosphere, and I was so happy they all were there. Those people were my village, and they showed up to make sure I knew I wouldn?t be alone. Later that night, though, the room cleared out all that was left was my daughter and me. That was the theme for the first couple of years of her life until I met my now husband. Getting her dressed and fed every day" Staying up late when she was sick" Paying for daycare and health insurance" I always had support, but ultimately, taking care of this little girl was a responsibility that was all mine.
I?m a new mom again with a 5-month-old baby boy, but this time it's very different. My husband is an active partner in making sure both of our children have what they need. He?s definitely more on point than I am with things like doctor?s appointments and sleep schedules. I?m grateful to have him. Parenting with someone else does make me look back and wonde...
