I never wanted a minivan but mine's dying and I might cry

I never wanted to be a minivan mom.
Although my husband was ready to buy a minivan the day we got home from our honeymoon, and start filling it up with kids, I held out (on both...it would be three years before the kids and seven before we got the van). But once we got to Baby #3, I had to think about grownup things like "gas mileage," and "safety ratings," and "kid destroyability factors," and we ended up with a four-year old used minivan.
My sweet ride. Which, by the way, still has a cassette deck so I can listen to my high school mix tapes.Â
I didn't expect to get so attached to it. But then, I've used it almost every single day for ten years. Mostly for mindless trips to school, or the store, or various swim and piano practices. But there have been other rides, too. Twice we've headed out of the driveway, and arrived back with one more tiny life traveling in it than before. Three times I've taken it, trying not to panic, to emergency rooms for stitches and broken arms, and once I drove it straight to the hospital for a scary overnight visit that turned out ok.
It's been on thousands of miles of road trips, to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, and through the Lincoln Tunnel in New York City (literally from sea to shining sea). We've had two encounters with angry wild animals who managed to sneak in, causing everyone to throw open the doors and run outside yelling like we were in a Chevy Chase &quo...
