I use TV as a babysitter and I'm not sorry

Nap time is the one part of my day when I can actually focus on work without also chasing around a toddler, fielding a constant stream of snack requests, and breaking up squabbles between my 3- and 6-year-old kids. Or at least it used to be. Much to my horror, naps have all but disappeared this summer at my house.
What's a work-from-home parent to do"
I'll tell you exactly what I do. I spread out a blanket on the floor, toss in a few pillows, and arm them with snacks and drinks. Then I simply press, "play" and let the magic begin. Silence. No running or shouting. All of my children sitting in a row calmly, enjoying music, CGI animation, and a story together in perfect harmony.
Because here's the truth: I use the TV as a babysitter, and I'm not sorry about it.
If I need a solid hour and a half of uninterrupted time, I'll pull out the big guns: Moana and Sing. Either of these godsends are guaranteed to put them into a trance while I focus my energy elsewhere. Or, if I need 15 minutes to quickly wrap something up, Peppa Pig on YouTube is my go-to.
You know what else "Babysitter TV" is good for" That hellish time between getting home from school and dinner when all the toddler wants to do is stand precariously on furniture while the older two run laps around the house.
