A visit to the movie theater with young children is almost always an adventure. Because let's face it, getting little ones to sit still for two hours is an impressive feat.
But what if I told you there is a movie-going option for families with small kids that could save your sanity" Two words: Indoor playground. Right next to the big screen. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before"!
This genius idea is brought to us by Cinepolis, a Mexico-based movie theater chain, which is opening its first in-theater playground concept in the U.S. at two Southern California locations next week. According to The LA Times, the chain's Pico Rivera and Vista theaters will unveil remodeled auditoriums -- dubbed Cinepolis Junior -- on March 16. Each theater will feature a colorful play area near the big screen, beanbag chairs and a jungle gym. Cinepolis Junior will allow families to enter the theater early so children (aimed at ages 3-12) can climb, play and explore the obstacle course, slides and more. After the movie ends, the kiddos will have an additional 15 minutes to play. It's worth noting these kid-friendly amenities will tack on an extra $3 per movie ticket. But still. I dare you to name a better way to get out those pre-movie wiggles and burn off a little of that candy and popcorn.
