Ingenious maternity store has a cravings bar
by Maggie Downs posted in Life
The New York Times? Critical Shopper column recently turned an eye to Hatch, the chic New York store for millennial mamas-to-be.
It?s not just that Hatch offers clothes for ?before, during, and after? pregnancy ? a concept they call ?maternity-ish? ? like the cutest slouchy dresses I've ever seen, and a $238 jumpsuit that I personally would pee through because I wouldn?t be able to wrangle it off my swollen body.
What?s novel here is that Hatch is specifically designed to cater to pregnant women.
That includes diaper changing stations; size charts in the changing room to help you accommodate a rapidly changing body; and a cravings bar.
HOLD UP. Yes, I said a cravings bar, complete with candy, pickles, and fancy ice cream. This already sounds like the best buffet ever. Here is what I'm imagining.
However, I didn?t actually crave any of those things when I was pregnant. I was fueled by a desire for curry, dosas, and anything spicy. (Also put popcorn and black olives in there too. And fruit. I drowned myself in fruit.)
If Hatch is looking to expand their offerings in the future, here are some other things I craved:
? A bed with a hole in the mattress, so I could nap face-down on my stomach.
? A butt massage. (Hey, don?t knock it ?til you?ve tried it.)
? People who aren?t my partner/my best friends to tell me I?m pretty and glowing and powerful.
? A nice pedicure.
? Someone to tell me exactly what I need for a baby and fill out ...
