Along with having all the regular concerns about giving birth and becoming a first-time mom, that's what one member of the BabyCenter Community has on her mind. The good news is the consensus seems to be "Yes, it will," but also, "Don't look!"
According to many, when it comes to the postpartum vulva, getting a visual is ill-advised.
"Don't look at it for a long time!" commenter JLM1411 hilariously explained. She then elaborated, "As my sister says, 'It will look surprised to see you.' I didn't look, but I felt it in the shower after birth and it felt like if I was blind and feeling Sloth's face from the Goonies." Ha ha ha ha ha...oh, my. I don't know if I'm laughing harder at the "surprised" bit or the Goonies reference, but either way those are tough visuals -- and I can relate.
For me, I recall things felt...meatier than before. There seemed to be a whole lot of swollen labia where before there hadn't been a noticeable amount. Combine that with some sharp bits courtesy of my episiotomy stitches, and the visual I got was close to this guy's mouth.
After a brief exploration I, too, decided looking wasn't necessary, and I held off a few more weeks before daring to see what shape things were in again.
