Is sleep becoming the latest mompetition"

According to the New York Times, it's sleep. That's right, now we can obsess about our lack of sleep -- which everyone knows only makes it harder to actually go to sleep.
It makes sense to me, actually, We live in a world where we can work anywhere, anytime, and I definitely see a shift back towards a simpler time where things like real food and homemade goods are becoming more valued (hello, hipsters!). Of course we'd also go back to getting a good, healthy night's sleep. But this quote sets me on edge:
"I can see sleep being another weapon in competitive parenting and career-building,? Ms. Salzman said. ?If you want your child to succeed, do you have to buy them these sleep devices"" When I had my first baby, sleep was almost always the first topic of conversation -- "Hey, how's it going" Are you getting any sleep"" I always felt that the question was well-meaning, a genuine expression of love and concern for a new mother. And often it slid into a conversation where other moms shared their sleep war stories and we all bragged and commiserated about how little shuteye we'd gotten. Is it now going to be a point of pride to actually sleep at night"
