Jamie-Lynn Sigler on being a mom with multiple sclerosis

Jamie-Lynn Sigler is best known as Meadow Soprano from the HBO hit series, The Sopranos. But she?s since added mom to her resume, sharing parenting duties with husband and professional baseball Cutter Dykstra.
Sigler recently appeared on the Today Show to talk about living with multiple sclerosis while taking care of her 3-year-old son Beau Kyle.
?I would never use the word ?sick? because I don?t want to overload or scare him,? she explained.
The 35-year-old actress and jewelry designer went on to say that Beau isn?t old enough to fully understand her condition. So she?s cautious about telling him about her illness, which often limits her from doing simple things we take for granted.
According to WebMD, symptoms of multiple sclerosis may vary from person to person. Some people don?t need treatment, while others may have a much harder time getting around. It?s a condition that can affect the brain, spinal cord, vision and other body functions. For Sigler, this condition often makes it difficult to do activities with her son.
?I tell him that Mommy?s legs can?t do that and if he wants to play with me, we have to play a game where we?re sitting down,? she explained.
Despite limitations, Sigler said it?s all worth it because Beau gives back to her in more ways than one. She actually kept her condition secret for 15 years, and said that her son inspired her to go public.
