When I took my oldest daughter to her first dentist visit I was asked what kind of cup we gave her. Whatever sippy cup I described it wasn't the right answer. I was told I should let my child drink from a regular cup to prevent potential bite issues, like the teeth-don't-meet "open bite" that can be caused by sucking. So I followed the dentist's orders and let my child have water in a regular cup.
